Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) and Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT) proudly hosted a Collaborative Signing Ceremony to celebrate their new partnership dedicated to preparing future educators. The event took place on Thursday, October 23, at 1:00 PM in The Villa, Cotter Library on the Mount Saint Mary College campus, located at 330 Powell Avenue in Newburgh, New York.
This collaboration brings together MSMC’s School of Arts, Sciences, and Education, under the leadership of Dr. Jen Bready, Dean, and joined by Evan Merkhofer, Ph.D. Vice President for Academic Affairs and TSTT, founded and led by Dr. Bettye H. Perkins, to strengthen the teacher pipeline by offering opportunities for aspiring educators to pursue college degrees and professional teaching careers. Among the highlights of this historic signing ceremony were remarks from TSTT student Mikaela Beaubrun, a senior at Roy C. Ketchum High School in Wappingers who hopes to attend MSMC and study to become a middle School Science Teacher. Her mother Wendy Beaubrun spoke wonderfully about how proud she was of Mikaela and the support from TSTT and partnerships with MSMC that will ensure her daughter realizes her dream to become a teacher.
New York State Senator and Chair of the Senate Committee on Education, Shelley B. Mayer, offered a congratulatory video message celebrating the new partnership.
TSTT’s mission is to recruit, mentor, and train culturally diverse and economically challenged students from high school through college, preparing them to become effective teachers and committed leaders who uplift schools and transform communities.
TSTT and MSMC marked this milestone partnership supporting the next generation of educators.

Mikaela Beaubrun, a senior at Roy C Ketcham High School, discussed how the TSTT program is helping her to achieve her dream of becoming a science teacher.
“Through TSTT activities, college tours, and group meetings... I’ve gained invaluable insights into the world of teaching,” Beaubrun said. “I hope to become a middle school teacher and create a classroom where every child feels safe. That’s why I want to attend Mount Saint Mary College, because of the strong education program and commitment to community engagement.”
